Reggie Vaughn is the principal of Reggie Vaughn Enterprises, a multi-media music and entertainment industry consulting firm with expertise and experience in special events promotion, record and film marketing, artist development, brokering music properties and launching advertising campaigns. Mr. Vaughn has more than 35 years of experience in the music business, including as a singer and songwriter, as well as multi-media experience in television, radio and print, developing professional relationships with a diverse group of legendary artists, music industry executives, music venues, media outlets and film producers.

MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY CONSULTING

  • Created and wrote the theme and motif for “Motown at the White House”, celebrating Motown’s 50th anniversary and honoring its visionary founder Berry Gordy Jr. at the White House hosted by President Barack Obama, which was broadcast on PBS in February 2011 for Black History Month. Also, assisted with the writing and development of the script for the tribute for June 2007 “Black Music Month”; at the White House hosted by President George W. Bush, as well as created a “VIP Invitee Guest List”  for the event.
  • Consultant to the Black Radio Exclusive (BRE) for conferences in Washington, DC in 2001 and also 1993, when Berry Gordy Jr., James Brown and George Clinton were honored. Assisted in developing the conference agenda, creating and promoting special events, and casting talent
    for performance showcases and discussion panels. Also, secured support from local radio and national coverage by Black Entertainment Television (BET), and sponsors including Amtrak, Hyatt Regency and Mercedes Benz.
  • Brokered record distribution for the legendary bass player Bootsy Collins between WEA Germany and Private I/Universal Records. Also involved in marketing and promotion, including selection of a single, retail strategies, radio airplay, video airplay on BET, and coordinating special events promotion with Radio One and Donnie Simpson.
  • Arranged appearance by Bootsy Collins for a funk tribute with George Clinton, Earth, Wind & Fire and Outkast during the Grammy Awards broadcast on CBS, which garnered a large viewing audience of 26 million.
  • Secured major sponsors Avis and Hyatt Regency for the film documentary “James Brown: The Man, The Music & The Message”, and assisted with promotion of the gala premiere at the Kennedy Center, with coverage by Entertainment Tonight, VH-1 and BET.
  • Coordinated and promoted a tribute event for James Brown at the Hard Rock Cafe, with coverage by BET, the Washington Post and local television.
  • Coordinated and promoted a tribute event for George Clinton at the Hard Rock Cafe, with coverage by BET, the Washington Post and local television.
  • Arranged appearance by funk legend Rick James on BET’s nightly talk show “BET Tonight” to promote new recording and national concert tour.
  • Created multi-media promotion and marketing campaign for R&B group the Blackbyrds celebrating the 30th anniversary of their beloved hit recording “Rock Creek Park”, which included a concert at Rock Creek Park Amphitheater, proclamation from the Washington, DC City Council, front page article in the Washington Post Sunday Arts Section, and local television and radio coverage.
  • Arranged and promoted a gala media reception for the National Newspaper Publishers Association and the cast of “Jelly’s Last Jam” featuring veteran singer Freda Payne, award winning dancer and choreographer Savion Glover and renowned dancer Maurice Hines.
  • Independent consultant for the Rhythm & Blues Foundation, dedicated to the historical and cultural preservation of R&B music, honoring pioneering artists, assisting artists in need, building appreciation through performances, and educating the next generation.
  • Procured an international licensing deal and brokered master tapes and other material at the Midem Music Conference in Cannes, France.
  • Co-wrote the song “Janice Don’t Be So Blind To Love” that was later recorded by legendary Motown songwriter/producer Frank Wilson.
